Learn How to Play the Setar (Beginner to Advanced)

By the end of the course, the learner is expected to:

be familiar with all the different parts of the setar;
play simple to advanced melodies on the setar.

The setar is a Persian (Iranian) stringed instrument with a small, pear-shaped soundbox and four metal strings. This Persian instrument has 4 strings made of steel and bronze. The name “setar” in Persian language means “three strings” and this is due to its original form which had only three strings.

The setar instrument compared with other similar instruments has lower sound volume. However, it has a remarkable soft, touching, delicate, and charming sound.

In this course you will be familiar with this instrument and will learn to play several short songs. For more advanced learners, the lessons will cover more complex topics and melodies.
